Childhood Trauma

Perhaps your childhood is over, but some of the effects are still with you.

Our early experiences often shape how we see ourselves, others and the world around us. Difficult childhood experiences can continue to affect relationships, self esteem, confidence and emotional wellbeing long into adulthood.

You may recognise:

  • Difficulty trusting others

  • Difficulty expressing emotions

  • Fear of rejection or abandonment

  • People pleasing

  • Struggling to set boundaries

  • Feeling responsible for everyone else

  • Low self worth

  • Feeling stuck in repeating patterns

Childhood trauma is not always about what happened. Sometimes it can also be about what was missing, such as emotional support, safety, consistency or feeling understood. Exploring childhood experiences is not about finding someone to blame. It is about understanding how early relationships and experiences may still be influencing your life today.

As someone with experience working with childhood trauma and attachment difficulties, I offer a supportive space to explore how your past may be influencing your present. Together we can make sense of patterns that keep showing up, whether that is people pleasing, struggling with boundaries, fear of rejection or difficulty trusting others., develop greater self awareness and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Understanding your past is not about blame. It is about gaining insight, compassion and choice. You deserve the opportunity to move forward with greater confidence and self understanding.

Sessions are available in Plymouth and online.
